Academic Support

Advising

Advisors work with new students

to review transfer credit, create academic plans for progress toward graduation, discuss short-term and long-term plans for classes and scheduling, help explore post-graduation options and goals, assist with choosing a major program, connect with other departments on campus for assistance, opportunities, and extra-curricular activities like clubs and organizations. Students with less than 40 credits qualify as new students.

Faculty mentors work with continuing and transfer students

to explore major program requirements, create academic plans for progress toward graduation, connect with research, internship, or project opportunities, assist with requirements for graduate school or other post-graduation academic goals. Continuing and transfer students have at least 40 credits.

Undergraduate Advising

The Undergraduate Academic Advisor works with Pre-Health students in their first 1-2 years at CDU who are majoring in Biomedical Science, Pre-Nursing, Public Health, and Psychology. As students start taking core major courses, the Advisor connects them with faculty mentors in the program.

The Academic Advisor also provides support and professional development to program coordinators, faculty, and staff working with undergraduate students. Advising resources include academic plans, ACADEMIC POLICIES, academic integrity, program forms, STUDENT ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES, tutoring, study spaces, and more.

Faculty Mentors

Incoming transfer and continuing undergraduate students with over 40 units receive faculty advising in their major. Each college will have specific faculty assigned to assist students with classes, and academic plans, and answer questions. Please contact your department to provide further details.
