Professor Eugene Hasson graduated from Los Angeles High School and has an associate degree in manufacturing from Los Angeles Trade Technical College, Coastline Community College (Liberal Arts), Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (Radiography Class of 1995). Professor Hasson completed his under-graduate studies at California State University of Long Beach and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Studies. He completed his Master’s Degree in education at Walden University.

Professor Hasson has been employed at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, College of Science and Health since 1996 and is currently Assistant Professor/Director of Radiologic Technology. Since taking over the helm for the program in 2007, he has helped over four hundred (400) minority students enter into the field of medicine through his mentorship and guidance at the university. Professor Hasson has received numerous awards for speaking at various high schools in the Los Angeles Unified and Inglewood Unified School Districts for encouraging the youth to pursue higher education in the medical professions. Professor Hasson will not hesitate when asked for his assistance and is always willing to help a total stranger.

Professor Hasson graduated from the Radiologic Technology Program in 1995. He graduated top of his class and was also class president. He graduated from CDU Summa Cum Laude. He received, from the then College of Allied Health, awards for academic and clinical excellence. Professor Hasson received the prestigious award of excellence from Mallinckrodt Medical. He also received the Dr. Charles W. Buggs award. This award is named after the first dean and pioneer of allied health training at CDU who was a prominent microbiologist. The award is presented to the graduate who has maintained the highest grade point average throughout their training and exemplified personal characteristics of competence and compassion.

Professor Hasson is an active alumni member at CDU, and he holds memberships in the Epsilon Tau Sigma Honor Society, and the Lambda Nu Honor Society for the Radiologic and Imaging Sciences. Professor Hasson is the Chapter Charter founder for the first Chapter in California, (California Alpha Chapter of Lambda Nu in 2004). The California Alpha Chapter currently has 170 members who are student technologist, working technologist or honorary members. It has been a great reward and privilege for Professor Hasson to return to his Alma Mater and give himself back to the community and the program he graduated from. He is a great person and a Prince Hall Mason 330.

Professor Hasson began his career at CDU one year after graduating and while still working three other jobs. He worked as a registry technologist at King/Drew Medical Center, where he trained as a student. He was also working for Picker International as a field service engineer. Along with working at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center as a technologist, he taught classes at Nova Institute for a limited x-ray program. His vast experience in patient care, radiographic procedures, image production, radiation protection, operation and repair of x-ray equipment, has served him and the students at CDU well.

Professor Hasson also resided in the Watts area during the Watts rebellion. He is what other people have called a “Homegrown Poster Child”. Professor Hasson takes great pride in his roots and appointment at CDU. Although Professor Hasson doesn’t currently have a church home. His mother instilled in him with faith in Jesus Christ all things are possible. He has spearheaded many community service projects as Program Director and as a member of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, F.&A.M. for the State of California, inc.
