- What is the class size?
The class size is 60.
- How do I apply to the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science Medical Degree Program?
Candidates can apply by completing the AMCAS application.
- Does the new CDU medical school require a supplemental application?
Yes, the deadline to complete the supplemental application is 28 days after receipt of the supplemental application invitation.
- Is there a fee for the supplemental application?
No, the supplemental application fee for the new medical school is $0.
- How will I know that my AMCAS has been received by CDU?
Candidates will receive an email confirmation notifying receipt.
- Is an Interview required?
Yes.
- Is a bachelor’s degree required?
Yes.
- Do you accept transfer students?
We do not accept transfer students.
- Do you accept DACA students?
Yes.
- Do you have scholarships?

- Are COVID vaccines required?
Yes, along with all other CDC-recommended vaccinations, to work in clinical settings.
- What are the required courses for admission?
Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, Calculus, and English.
- Is the new CDU Medical Degree Program affiliated with any other university?
No. This program is accredited at CDU. CDU has received preliminary accreditation LCME for this program, and the charter class started on July 10, 2023
- Is there a joint baccalaureate-MD program(s) or dual degree program(s) (e.g., MD-PhD)?
No. However, CDU offers a bachelor’s degree in the College of Science and Health and discussions of a joint baccalaureate-MD program.
- What is the status of the CDU medical education track at UCLA?
The partnership between CDU and UCLA for this historic program continues. CDU/UCLA MEP becomes the Partnership Health Equity Pathway at DGSOM website.
- How many letters of recommendation should I submit?
You can submit a minimum of 3 (maximum 5)
- Do you accept a committee letter or individual letters of recommendation?
We accept both individual and committee letters.
- Is the Computer-Based Assessment for Sampling Personal Characteristics (CASPer) required for admission?
No CASPer required.
- How can I update my application?
Applicants can send updates (re: citizenship, grades, etc) to medschool@cdrewu.edu in pdf format. It will be added to their e-file in WebAdmit.
- Is the AAMC PREview™ Professional Readiness Exam required for admission?
The PREview exam is not required for admission.
- What is the estimated cost of attending medical school at CDU?
