What if I am not tenure-track or tenured faculty?
Answer: Only tenure-track or tenured faculty who can serve as a PI at their institution may apply!
Do I need to attend all six days of the PRISM Institute?
Answer: Yes, full participation is required. Please ensure that you can clear your schedule before applying to the Institute. Becoming an integral part of this mentor and Fellow cohort community is an essential part of this Institute experience.
Do I need to be on my camera for the full Institute?
Answer: To facilitate sharing and engagement with other participants, we ask that your camera be turned on for the full Institute.
How is this program cited in my CV?
Some fellows categorize PRISM under research training, while others under awards, as it is a competitive process to be accepted into the PRISM Institute.
Is there an extension of the 10 years since the terminal degree due to COVID?
No–our program is for Early-Stage Investigators as defined by our funder, the NIH. Their definition: “An Early-Stage Investigator (ESI) is a New Investigator who has completed his/her terminal research degree or medical residency (or the equivalent and whichever date is later) within the past 10 years and has not yet been awarded a substantial, competing NIH grant.” If an individual has received an extension from the NIH for their early career status, they are eligible; other exceptions may be granted due to clinical completions of certification.
What if my citizenship or permanent residency is pending? Can I apply to PRISM?
Answer: No, US citizenship or permanent resident status in the United States is required by the NIH for this R25 funding mechanism at the time of application. If you gain citizenship or permanent resident status, you may apply for the next cohort.
Do I receive a certificate of completion?
Answer:Yes. Certificates of completion are emailed to Fellows after all deliverables, including the evaluation survey, are completed.
