Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Donates $5,000

The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. visited the campus in July to make a $5k donation to the University.
“I am immensely pleased and grateful for the contribution that has been made by the men of the Tau Tau Chapter of Omega Psi Phi,” said Dr. Benjamin Quillian, Chair of the CDU Board of Trustees and member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. “Dr. Drew was a proud member of the Fraternity, and Tau Tau’s donation will build upon his legacy and help support the University’s mission to cultivate health care professionals who are dedicated to social justice and health care equity for the underserved.”
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is the first international fraternal organization founded on the campus of a historically black college. It was founded in November 1911 by three Howard University juniors – Edgar Amos Love, Oscar James Cooper, and Frank Coleman – and their faculty adviser, Dr. Ernest Everett Just. Since then, the organization has chartered over 750 undergraduate and graduate chapters.
Ricky Lewis, First Vice Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and James Henderson, Basileus of Tau Tau Chapter, presented the check to Dr. Quillian, Dr. David Carlisle, CDU CEO and President, and Sylvia Drew Ivie, Special Assistant to the President for Community Relations and daughter of Dr. Charles R. Drew, along with Angela Minniefield, CDU Senior Vice President of Advancement and Operations and COO.
“The men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. are excited about this donation to help continue the great work of CDU,” said Lewis. “We are committed to expanding this partnership in making a difference in our communities.”
