CDU Mourns Loss of Dr. Nestor Gonzalez-Cadavid, Esteemed Professor
Dr. Nestor Gonzalez-Cadavid, a distinguished member of the College of Medicine faculty, passed away on August 11, 2024.
Dr. Gonzalez-Cadavid joined CDU in 1993 where he held a faculty appointment as Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Molecular Medicine. During his time at the University, Dr. Gonzalez-Cadavid also served as an active member of both the Academic Senate’s Appointments and Promotions Committee.
Dr. Gonzalez-Cadavid was a prolific researcher who played an instrumental role in advancing the understanding of endocrinology and molecular medicine. He authored a wealth of publications and presentations that contributed to the fields of urology, endocrinology, and molecular biology.
Dr. Gonzalez-Cadavid left an indelible mark not only on CDU but also the broader scientific community. He was a dedicated mentor to junior faculty, students, and residents, consistently guiding them with vast knowledge and unwavering support. His legacy will continue through the countless individuals that he’s inspired and the advancements he’s made in medical science.
