CDU Receives $150K from Grifols to Support Scholarships and Saturday Science Academy

CDU received a gift of $150,000 from Grifols, a biopharmaceutical solutions company, in support of a scholarship in nursing and the Saturday Science Academy program.
“The funding received is critical to the University’s efforts to address health disparities by motivating underserved South Los Angeles youth to consider careers in healthcare, as well as educating and graduating healthcare professionals who reflect the ethnic and socio-economic diversity of Los Angeles,” noted Angela Minniefield, CDU’s Senior Vice President, Advancement and Operations and COO.
The scholarship, named after Victor Grifols Roura, will provide $10,000 to one nursing student enrolled in the 2023-2024 academic school year. The $140,000 allotted for the Saturday Science Academy II will serve approximately 275 students.
The Saturday Science Academy II exposes Pre-K through 12th-grade students to fun and engaging science material in an effort to motivate them to move into the healthcare field after graduating high school.
