Master of Science, Biomedical Sciences
The Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences is a one-year master’s program in the Department of Health and Life Sciences at CDU, which prepares students to be highly competitive candidates for graduate and professional schools in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and other health-related professional programs. After completion of the program, students will be able to apply for employment in biomedical research laboratories in industry, government, and academia. The degree requires a total of 36 credits.
Role and Qualifications
The degree culminates in a research thesis involving hands on research experience. The curriculum integrates graduate level biological and biochemical sciences with skill development in critical thinking, communication and teamwork. Students will gain a thorough knowledge of advanced biomedical concepts developed through a curriculum that emphasizes the “CDU Advantage Domains and Institutional learning Outcomes (ILOs)” in social justice, global experience, community engagement, excellence in specialized knowledge and research, and socio-political dynamic of health. Thesis research encompasses both didactic instruction as well as involvement in one of three emphasis areas: translational, clinical, or community based research in Biomedicine.
