Fall 2023
Please thoroughly read the information below and follow the steps so you can begin your undergraduate studies on the right foot!
Email StudentServices@cdrewu.edu for assistance in any of the following steps.
STEP 1: ACTIVATE YOUR STUDENT ACCOUNT
The following instructions will allow you to activate your student account for access to campus networks, systems, and resources. You will find your student email on the last step.
Click here to view the New Student Account Activation Instructions
FOR RETURNING STUDENTS – If you are a returning student (at one point have been an enrolled student at CDU in the past/Alumni), please use the following Password Reset Instructions to regain access to your CDU student account. Do NOT use the New Student Account Activation Instructions above.
STEP 2: ACTIVATE YOUR CDU EMAIL ACCOUNT
Your student email account is hosted by Microsoft Outlook. All students, faculty, and staff at CDU are required to set up multi-factor authentication for your CDU Microsoft account the first time you attempt to log in. This security measure is required in order to protect access to your email account. Once the semester starts, this will be the primary email used to communicate important CDU-related information.

STEP 5: MANDATORY ORIENTATION
Due to COVID-19 and the subsequent temporary closure of the CDU campus, our New Student Orientation has been converted into a virtual format through our Blackboard Learn platform. The Orientation will go live when New Student Registration opens on July 11th.
When registering for your Fall 2022 courses, you are required to also register for the New Student Orientation Course (NSO). This will add the New Student Orientation Course to your Blackboard account for you to complete it.
Please note:
- New Student Orientation is a mandatory program all CDU new students must complete
- The NSO course is a zero unit course
- The New Student Orientation is a self-guided, independent experience with no live meetings
- You can complete the course in one sitting or stop and return as needed
- All units must be completed for the purpose of completing the quiz at the end of the course
- The NSO course covers the following university information:
- Technology and Academic Resources
- Paying for CDU
- Support and Wellness
- Safety and Responsibility
STEP 6: SINGLE SIGN ON (SSO) & BLACKBOARD ACCESS
Single Sign-On (SSO) is a log-in utility that allows you to enter your CDU webmail username and password once to access certain web applications during an internet session without having to log in to each application separately. This includes signing onto Blackboard. You can log onto Blackboard using HelloID.
Blackboard Learn is the Learning Management System where you will complete assignments, take exams, and interact with your classmates and professors. Your Blackboard account is created by CDU. Log in using your CDU email and password.
CDU professors use Blackboard Collaborate to host lectures. CDU’s Blackboard Administrator will be hosting a series of sessions where new students can join to get familiar with the platform. Join a session before the first day of classes to be prepared! Sessions will begin two weeks prior to the first week of classes. You must first complete the New Student Orientation (NSO) before joining a session. Sessions are available for extra assistance. To join, login into Blackboard and go to the session. Look out for Announcements posted in the NSO course for further details and guidance.
- Thursdays 4 pm – 5 pm
STEP 7: PAYING FOR CDU – Tuition & fees
After you have registered for courses, visit your MyCDU Portal, click on “Finance,” and then on “ebill” for tuition and fees applied. In this section, you can either pay your bill in full or set up a payment plan.
Note: All tuition and fees are due by Saturday, August 27, 2022, either in full or have an approved Tuition Installment Plan on file with the Bursar’s Office. If you need assistance with making payment arrangements, please contact the Bursar’s Office at (323) 563-5824 or email at studentfinance@cdrewu.edu.
Federal Financial Aid: If you intend to receive federal financial aid, your Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is due 30 days before classes start (July 27, 2022). Complete the FAFSA by August 1 to ensure that any aid granted can be applied in a timely manner. Use the following link to begin the process: https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. If you do not enroll in or waive Student Health Insurance, you will be auto-enrolled. All new full-time students must complete this action before September 9, 2022. Do not wait until the last day to complete the waiver. You will be receiving an email from healthinsuranceinfo@cdrewu.edu with instructions on how to waive/enroll on July 18, 2022.
