Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
All accessibility and disability-related information including documentation, accommodation letters, correspondence, and consultation are considered confidential and will be managed in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Student accessibility and disability records/documentation is considered part of the student’s education record. The information may be disclosed only with the permission of the student or as permitted by the University’s student records policy and federal law.
Accommodation Request Analysis
In reviewing accommodation requests, the following analysis is used:
Does the Student have a documented disability?
Does the disability substantially limit one or more major life activities that impacts them in the CDU environment?
Does the student meet the University’s college/programs academic and technical standards?
Is the request reasonable? (The following requirements ALL be satisfied for the request to be considered reasonable):
The accommodation does not:
Fundamentally alter the nature of the program or activity.
Alter or remove essential requirements.
Lower academic standards or learning outcomes.
Present and undo financial or administrative burden on the university pose a threat to the safety of others or the public.
