Physicians conduct patient examinations, collect medical histories, and oversee the process of ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests. They work across various specialties and settings to promote patient health and well-being. Physicians guide patients on health topics like illness management, injury prevention, treatment options, and preventive care.
Application Service
There are three centralized application services for medical school admissions that allow applicants to submit one application to multiple medical schools simultaneously.
To apply to allopathic medicine (M.D) schools in the United States, you must use the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS).
To apply to osteopathic medicine (D.O) schools in the United States, you must use the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Application Service (AACOMAS).
Texas utilizes the Texas Medical and Dental Schools Application Service (TMDSAS) for medical school applications (M.D & D.O).
Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT)
The MCAT is a standardized test required for admission into medical schools in the U.S. It evaluates a candidate’s knowledge of foundational sciences, critical thinking abilities, and problem-solving skills. The MCAT score is an important factor considered when making admission decisions.
