PNG files have a transparent background and are ready to be used in printed materials measuring up to 24×36 (posters), websites, and most promotional items.
EPS files are vector files that can be enlarged to be used in large format media such as banners and billboards. These files can only be opened and edited using Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Inkscape, or Photoshop. Therefore, these are best used by graphic designers and creative services professionals.
