New President of Academic Senate Named
Dr. Mohsen Bazargan, Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Family Medicine at CDU, has been selected as the new president of the Academic Senate of CDU.
The organization serves and functions as the representative, deliberative, and policymaking body of the CDU Faculty. Dr. Bazargan will assume the role from Dr. Thomas Magee, who served two terms ‘20 -’22 and ‘22 – ‘24.
Dr. Bazargan was elected at large for a two-year term by members of CDU faculty of the university who hold voting rights in the General Assembly.
The Academic Senate was established to give the University’s governing faculty an effective voice in academic policies and in the oversight of their execution in order to advance research in medicine and allied sciences, to train successive generations of leaders in those fields, and to protect and enhance the wellbeing of people living in underserved communities of Los Angeles and of the world.
