CDU Staff Member Selected as Board Member for Citizen’s Academy Los Angeles Chapter
CDU staff member, Armando Estrada, Director of Risk Management and Campus Safety, has been selected as a board member for the Los Angeles chapter of the Federal Bureau Investigation’s Citizen’s Academy.
“When it was announced the FBI Citizen’s Academy had a position on the board, I felt a call to serve and applied to interview alongside many others,” said Estrada.
The FBI Los Angeles Citizens Academy Alumni Association (FBILACAAA) is a community based and supported organization, distinct and separate from the FBI, designed to promote a safer community through community service projects and a process of educating business, labor, media, medical, minority, religious, government, senior citizens, and other community leaders about law enforcement, with particular emphasis on the mission, resources, and limitations of the FBI.
As a member of the board, Estrada will be responsible for several tasks including setting the standards for future FBI Citizen Academies. “We will also serve to support the dissemination of information such as hate crimes, cybercrimes and elder abuse for example,” explained Estrada. “We train and attend events such as the national night out event, honoring fallen FBI agents and events serving local communities.”
“I have made the safety of this campus a life commitment and certainly, my priority,” said Estrada. “The numbers clearly speak for themselves and I’m very proud of the Campus Safety Team and their commitment to the safety of the CDU Campus Community.”
The mission of FBILACAAA is to serve as ambassador to the FBI in order to strengthen relationships and improve the understanding between the FBI and communities it serves. They vision to be the premier community support organization for the FBI in Los Angeles.
