CDU Hosts 13th Annual Let’s Move! Event on Campus
CDU’s Department of Pipeline and School Partnership Programs held the 13th Annual Let’s Move event on campus.
Let’s Move 2023 garnered approximately 150 guests in attendance and featured a full day of fun health focused events including physical fitness activities, free health screenings, professional nutrition advice, community resources, medical simulations, and a parent workshop on heart health.
This year’s event was made possible through the contributions of the CDU College of Nursing team, the Black Maternal Health Center of Excellence, Kaiser Permanente, the County of Los Angeles Public Health, the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, UCLA, the DOF Foundation and the CDU community.
Let’s Move, an initiative started by First Lady Michelle Obama to address the childhood obesity epidemic, aims to support families by encouraging them to adopt a healthier and more physically active lifestyle.
CDU’s Pipeline Programs have been preparing underrepresented Pre-K to 12th grade students for careers in science and healthcare through an engaging curriculum and hands-on STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) activities for over 30 years.
The programs provide mentorship and inspirational experiences that form a foundation for youth of color to succeed and strengthen their academic skills.
