Teaching: I co-facilitate and mentor medical students within a section of the Medicine and Society curriculum of the new 4-year MD program. I have also edited and written the COM Sharpest Scalpel newsletter for four years. I was also part of the planning team that met for four-plus years to develop the 4-year MD program.

Previous academic experience: 40 years teaching experience at 16 colleges and universities ranging from USC, UCLA, The Claremont Colleges, LMU, Phillips Graduate University, DeVry University, 5 CSUs and 4 community colleges.

Title of Doctoral Dissertation: Innerface King/Drew, (1975), an ethnographic study of the culture of Charles Drew University and Martin Luther King Hospital during the early founding years of both institutions. It is considered the first of its kind for emphasis on the founding of a large-scale institution based on an evident, exigent, and emergent need that still exists in SPA 6.

Co-Founder, Pan-African Studies Department at CSULA; Assistant Professor and Vice-Chair, Department of Afro-Ethnic Studies, CSUF; co-founder, UCLA NOMMO Black Student newspaper. Subject areas taught include Urban Cultural Anthropology; Ethnic Studies; African-American and World Music; The Humanities; and Environmental Sustainability.

Co-Author, The Anatomy of A Record Company (1981). Creative Director, Black Radio Exclusive Magazine (1979-80). Artistic Director, Quincy Jones Workshop (1976-78). Over 400 articles, essays, and subject area studies in the contemporary music and arts area. Closing Keynote Speaker, Blues in the Spirit Conference, Dominican College (2014). Charter Member, California Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame (2019). Founder-Producer the Blacks on Blues Historic Preservation project, 1992-Present. Interviews with artists including Count Basie, Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Muddy Waters, Quincy Jones, Grover Washington, Jr., Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Patrice Rushen, Dexter Gordon, and Stanley Clarke.
