Currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, I am dedicated to shaping the future of healthcare professionals. With a Doctor of Health Administration from A.T. Still University and a rich educational background including a Master of Legal Studies, I bring a unique blend of legal insight and healthcare expertise to my role. My journey in healthcare administration has seen me in key positions such as Administrator at the Defense Health Agency, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, where I contributed significantly to the growth of Graduate Medical Education programs.
In my role at CDU, I am actively engaged in the Internal Medicine Residency Program and the overall Graduate Medical Education Program—a testament to my commitment to medical education and organizational leadership. Beyond the academic realm, I hold board certification in Healthcare Management from the American College of Healthcare Executives, reflecting my dedication to professional excellence. My involvement in various committees at CDU, such as the Graduate Medical Education Committee and Faculty Development Committee, underscores my commitment to collaborative and impactful contributions within the institution.
Outside of CDU, my commitment to community service is evident through my longstanding membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Additionally, my engagement with professional associations and scholarly societies, including the American College of Healthcare Executives and the National Association of Health Services Executives, reflects my ongoing commitment to staying abreast of industry advancements. With a strong foundation in academia, my role extends beyond traditional teaching to mentoring residents and contributing to research projects that address critical healthcare challenges, as evidenced by my involvement in grants related to primary care expansion. As a published author and a presenter at conferences, I continue to contribute to the scholarly discourse in healthcare administration and medical education.
Research Interests
My research and scholarly interests converge at the intersection of healthcare administration, medical education, and legal studies, focusing on two major themes: (1) Residency Training Strategies – Investigating innovative approaches to reduce fatigue in residency training settings, aiming to enhance the well-being of resident physicians while optimizing the learning environment, and (2) Community-Centric Medical Training – Actively involved in research grants related to primary care expansion in underserved areas, particularly South Los Angeles County, to address healthcare disparities and increase access to medical services.
