CDU-AltaMed Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Academy

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in partnership with AltaMed have developed a CDU-AltaMed HCOP Academy.  The CDU-AltaMed HCOP Academy is an exciting longitudinal structured, supportive pipeline that provides many learning and experiential opportunities for junior, senior high school and undergraduate students (including premed) to prepare them to enter health professions education and workforce preparation. As a CDU-AltaMed HCOP Pre-Ambassador Scholar, enrolled students will be exposed to a unique curricula that will be delivered through a structured schedule that includes a variety of learning and experiential opportunities that include among others: workshops, field trips, mentorship, Saturday programs, courses, summer programs, meetings, mixers, and learning communities. CDU-AltaMed HCOP Ambassador Scholars will receive scholarships and/or stipends for participation.  Additionally, selected students have the opportunity to participate in the program for up to five years. 

High school students applying to the HCOP Pre-Ambassador Program should express interest in health professions education and interest in attending, applying, or having been accepted to one of the CDU undergraduate programs: Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science, Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science and Food Systems, Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Science.   Undergraduate freshman and sophomores at CDU should be currently enrolled in one of the aforementioned program.
