CDU-AltaMed Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) Academy

The CDU-AltaMed HCOP Ambassador Academy is a supportive pipeline for undergraduate & graduate students who have experienced educational or economic disadvantage(s), and are passionate about becoming healthcare professionals to better serve their community. CDU’s HCOP program prepares and encourages students to matriculate and contribute locally, by engaging them in experiential learning opportunities emphasizing the health needs of the surrounding communities. HCOP Scholars at CDU also participate year-round in unique curriculum that includes skill-building workshops, local site visits, volunteer leadership, learning communities, academic mentoring and more! Selected HCOP scholars will be eligible for up to $10,000 in need-based scholarship, contingent on participation, and will have the opportunity to participate in HCOP for multiple years, with and without variable funding.

HCOP Ambassador Scholars are AWESOME because they:

  • Engage fully in both mandatory & voluntary enrichment activities by being punctual, prepared, & attentive during all learning opportunities.
  • Participate in all events & experiences with a positive attitude, promoting cooperation & teamwork.
  • Demonstrate leadership via example by exhibiting genuine respect & consideration for their peers, CDU faculty, HCOP program coordinators, as well as other visiting contributors.
  • Are dedicated to lifelong & service learning, in an ongoing effort to become a well-rounded future healthcare professional who is focused on the needs of medically underserved communities.
