I come from a family of nurses, so I grew up discussing science and medicine early on in life. However, it was in my High School Anatomy class, that I fell in love with learning how the human body worked, and was intrigued to gain understanding of how such an intricate system could ultimately fail.  I knew then, that I wanted to spend my life healing and helping to restore individuals back to health.

What are you goals for the future?
I hope to continue to serve and heal the members of my community and beyond, while utilizing my understanding of both Modern and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.

My greatest inspiration to pursue a career in medicine was my father, who was also a physician that spiked my curiosity and passion at a young age.
What inspired you to choose a career in Medicine?
Full-spectrum Family Medicine is what has always interested me. Community engagement and rural medicine that entails prevention and promotion of chronic illnesses throughout all aspects of the field. Because of this, I pursued my medical degree at the Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina (Latin American School of Medicine) in Havana, Cuba.
What inspired you to choose a career in Medicine?
Outside of medicine, I enjoy fitness activities, playing and watching sports, spending time with my two young children, and going to the beach.
My goal for the future is to continue to expand my knowledge and be able to return that to the community throughout the span of my medical career.

What inspired you to choose a career in Medicine?
As a child I would tell everyone that I wanted to be a doctor. I was not sure where I got that idea, but as I grew older, I constantly felt a strong desire to pursue a career in medicine. Now, as I reflect over my experiences and journey into medicine, I know that I was called to this profession by God.

I look forward to bringing together both health innovators and stakeholders to achieve new solutions and improve models of care.

What are your hobbies and interests?
I have always been intrigued by the detective work involved in healthcare, however it became a calling after the sudden (and likely preventable) loss of an uncle. Living through the challenges that followed cemented my desire to practice and is my constant reminder of the value of preventive medicine.

I was inspired to choose a career in medicine because of my experiences growing up, which call for a more holistic approach to medical practice in our modern world and for health literacy and equity, particularly in underserved communities.  Family medicine as a specialty naturally appeals to me because of its core values and emphasis on the whole person, efficient patient-provider relationships, and community engagement.

What are your hobbies and interests?
My hobbies include creative writing, cooking for family and friends, exploring new restaurants, and venturing to new cities.  I enjoy discussing politics, history, and film.

What inspired you to choose a career in Medicine?
I decided to go into medicine for several reasons. It's a field that expands in breadth daily and forces you to engage in continual learning and self-growth.  Working as a physician requires you to always move forward in the pursuit of excellence because anything less could be detrimental. It's also a field that allows you to help people and connect with others on a very intimate level. Patients share their fears, dreams, and deepest secrets and it's an honor to be able to receive that level of trust from others.

What are your goals for the future?
I'm a neophyte in my career, so right now anything is possible.  But, in looking towards the future I see myself staying engaged in academic medicine, in some form, and advocating for the health of people who live in underprivileged areas.  I'd also like to pursue a fellowship in women's health sometime in the future

What inspired you to choose a career in Medicine?
I grew up with my grandparents, great aunts, and great uncles.  They all had health problems that they didn't take seriously.  I always wondered how I could help prevent these things from happening to other people in the future.  This inspired me to get involved in preventative medicine

What are you goals for the future? In the future I plan to spend some time working in an undeserved community in the LA County. Focusing on outpatient preventative care.  Outside of the office, I plan to work with Pipeline pre-med programs to help usher in the next generation of health professionals of color.
