EDGE-PA is a program under the Physician Assistant Department at Charles R. Drew University that identifies Black men pursuing a career in the PA profession. EDGE stands for Empowering, Diversity, Growth and Excellence. With a lack of Black men in medicine, the program seeks to offer resources and support to Black men that have not applied or who have applied and were unsuccessful in gaining acceptance into a PA program.
The program is funded by a diversity grant and is of no cost to the students. The program runs from May to November and is completely virtual.
We are committed to providing equitable opportunities for under-represented students to successfully practice at all levels within the field of nursing.
EDGE offers the following:
CASPA Review
Mock Interviews
Essay writing workshops and review
Meetings with PA Programs
Guest Speakers from different specialties
Mentorship from a Black PA
Scholarships for CASPA and application-related costs
Tutoring for Prerequisite classes
Secured interview spots from PA programs (must meet requirements for each program)
