Associate of Science, Radiologic Technology
The Radiologic Technology program educates entry-level radiologic technologists who assist in providing high-quality healthcare with excellence and compassion by producing diagnostic images through the knowledge and application of radiologic science.
Application Requirements
- Official transcripts from all schools attended
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Complete all prerequisite course(s) with a grade of “C” or better prior to matriculation. All required courses must be taken within (7) years of the submission of the application.
- Anatomy and Physiology (4 units w/lab)
- Medical Terminology (3 units)
Please note while not required for admission, the Charles R. Drew University Radiologic Technology Admissions Committee has identified the following courses that need to be completed prior to matriculation.

International Student Applicants
We do not require a separate application or additional fee for international applicants. Students applying to the Radiologic Technology program should be prepared to meet all of the admissions requirements as outlined above.

- Coursework completed outside the US must be evaluated for US course equivalency from one of the following services (course-by-course evaluation required):

Applicant Ranking and Selection
Applicants to the Radiologic Technology Program are evaluated through a structured 76-point selection process. The review considers academic performance, relevant experience, interview responses, situational judgment, and the applicant’s ability to meet the program’s academic and clinical requirements.
Selection Criteria
The selection process includes the following components:
- Scientific GPA: 20 points
- Overall GPA: 15 points
- Radiology Experience: 10 points
- Interview Questions: 15 points
- Situational and Behavioral Assessment: 6 points
- Commitment and Logistics: 10 points
The maximum possible score is 76 points.
Scientific GPA
The Scientific GPA is based on grades earned in Anatomy, Physiology, and Medical Terminology.
- 4.0: 20 points
- 3.5 to 3.9: 15 points
- 3.0 to 3.4: 10 points
- 2.5 to 2.9: 5 points
- Below 2.5: 0 points
Overall GPA
Overall GPA is evaluated using the following scale:
- 4.0: 15 points
- 3.5 to 3.9: 12 points
- 3.0 to 3.4: 9 points
- 2.5 to 2.9: 5 points
- Below 2.5: 0 points
Radiology Experience
Applicants may earn up to 10 points for relevant radiology or healthcare experience. Qualifying experience may include patient-facing work in a radiology setting, radiology scheduling or front-desk responsibilities, enrollment in Introduction to Radiologic Technology, volunteer service, observation, shadowing, or healthcare-related community service.
Interview and Situational Assessment
Applicants are evaluated on their motivation for entering the field, knowledge of radiologic technology, personal strengths, potential contributions to the program and community, and ability to respond to challenges.
Situational and behavioral questions are used to assess communication, professionalism, judgment, and readiness for academic and clinical responsibilities.
Commitment and Logistics
Applicants must be able to participate fully in the program and travel to clinical education sites throughout the region. Reliable transportation is required.
