The Master’s in Public Health Program at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science has been ranked among the top 100 graduate schools in the country according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Graduate School rankings.

Launched in 2006, the Master’s Public Health in Urban Health Disparities program continues to distinguish itself as a leader in public health education.

“This national recognition highlights the strength of our mission-driven approach to public health education,” said Dr. Monica Ferrini, Dean of the College of Science and Health. “At CDU, we empower students to understand and respond to the social determinants of health while equipping them with the skills to make a lasting difference in underserved communities.”

With an average class size of 25 students, the program offers an intimate, high-impact learning environment that fosters meaningful faculty mentorship, community based research, and engagement with nationally recognized experts that prepares graduates to be highly competitive across today’s public health workforce.

“Our programs have long been built around the understanding that public health is inseparable from the lived realities of immigration, gender and sexuality, labor, housing, and equity,” said Dr. Bita Amani, Department Chair and Associate Professor, Department of Urban Public Health. “Through our workforce development initiatives in Public Health and Maternal and Child Health, we are actively expanding the pipeline of equity-driven professionals prepared to meet the needs of the communities that need them most.”

CDU MPH graduates pursue careers in program management, research, environmental health, and grant writing, with many continuing on to advanced clinical and health professional programs, further amplifying their impact in communities where it matters most.
