CDU Breaks Ground on Health Professions Education Building
CDU celebrated a significant milestone on August 27, 2024, with the groundbreaking ceremony for the Health Professions Education Building (HPEB).
This future state-of-the-art, four-story, 60,000-square-foot facility will serve as the new home for CDU’s historic 4-year Medical Education Program and will offer interdisciplinary education programming for all three CDU colleges.
Held immediately after the university’s annual State of the University address, the ceremony drew an enthusiastic crowd, including students, staff, faculty and members of the surrounding.
Dr. David M. Carlisle, President and CEO of CDU, emphasized the importance of the HPEB in advancing the university’s mission to create a healthier, more equitable future for all..
Participants in the groundbreaking ceremony included CDU John Baackes, Chief Executive Officer of L.A. Care Health Plan and Chairman of CDU’s Board of Trustees, along with Steve Keck, Co-CEO and Co-Chair of the W.M. Keck Foundation.
The HPEB is slated for completion in July 2026 and will be located on the western end of the CDU campus in Willowbrook, adjacent to the King/Drew Magnet High School of Medicine and Science.
