Angela Minniefield Receives HBCU Symposium Leadership Award
Angela Minniefield, Senior Vice President, Advancement and Operations and Chief Operating Officer of CDU, received an Advancement Leader Award at the 2024 HBCU Philanthropy Symposium.
SVP Minniefield expressed feelings of shock, humility, and pride at the recognition of her significant contributions.
“Being recognized at all is very humbling and sometimes hard for me to personally receive because I know I don’t do what I do alone,” explained SVP Minniefield. “ Teamwork Makes the Dream work. Nevertheless, I do what I do with hope, but I often don’t fully grasp the impact I have on people and institutions outside of CDU.”
Since joining CDU in 2012, SVP Minniefield has led the University’s Advancement and Development efforts.
She surpassed the $8.3 million fundraising goal for 2013-2015 and launched the $75 million, five-year CDU Rising Campaign, which has now reached $94 million, with $95 million in sight.
“I’d like to thank President Carlisle and my current and past Advancement team for helping me create a fundraising infrastructure that has supported the University’s fundraising results,” said SVP Minniefiled. “It hasn’t been easy, but we are making a difference.”
The Advancement Leader Award is given to a leader in the advancement and philanthropic space who demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities contributing significantly to their organization and the community.
“CDU is a promise to the community and those who are most impacted by a lack of healthcare accessibility—people of color and in the words of Dr. Gus Gill, ‘the poor,’” remarked SVP Minniefield. “I remain focused on keeping my promise to give CDU and my community my best.”
The HBCU Philanthropy Symposium serves as a platform for growth and philanthropic enrichment among consortiums of HBCU and Minority Serving Institution (MSI) fundraisers, funders, leaders, community advocates, and philanthropists.
