The HCOP Ambassador Program is a year-round opportunity for students interested in health careers to grow academically, professionally, and personally while actively engaging with the Charles R. Drew University (CDU) community.
Ambassador Program Highlights
Weekly workshops (90 minutes) led by CDU faculty, staff, and local health leaders, covering academic success strategies, mental wellness, professional development, and community engagement.
Clinical training opportunities, including street medicine events and virtual patient-physician simulations to build real-world healthcare experience.
1-on-1 academic and career coaching through personalized case management.
Mentorship from current CDU medical and physician assistant students.
Scholarship assistance is available for students who remain active in the program.
CDU HCOP Summer Institute
Six-Week Intensive Program for Health Career Preparation
The HCOP Summer Institute is an immersive, full-time summer program designed to prepare students for the next step in their healthcare education or career. Over six weeks, participants gain hands-on experience, strengthen key skills, and build lasting connections in the field of health.
Summer Program Highlights:
Full-time commitment: Monday through Friday for six consecutive weeks.
Professional development and wellness workshops, plus tailored guidance on applying to graduate or professional health programs.
Mentorship from CDU medical and physician assistant students.
Virtual case studies that simulate real-world public health challenges.
Simulation lab training to practice and refine clinical skills.
Stipend awarded upon successful completion of the program.
