disAbility Resources for Students
Welcome, thank you for visiting us!
Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) provides equal access and opportunity to its students and does not discriminate on the basis of disability in all of its courses, programs and activities. CDU is committed to providing appropriate services and reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities consistent with the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act of 2008.
The Disability Services Coordinator is the campus officer designated to work with CDU students with disabilities, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels (including all professional schools). The Disability Services Coordinator may provide a wide array of support services, accommodations, and programs to remove barriers to full participation in the life of the University.
In reaching a determinations about appropriate accommodations, CDU’s Disability Services Coordinator factors such as the documentation from professionals specializing in the area of the student’s diagnosed disability, the student’s functional limitations, and the student’s input and accommodation history in regard to particular needs and limitations. The Disability Services Coordinator then works with the student and relevant faculty and staff through an interactive process designed to achieve an accommodation that meets the needs of all parties.
Questions about how to begin the accommodations process should be directed to CDU’s Disability Services Coordinator or CDU’s Compliance Officer.
