PhD, director of HCOP, is an associate professor in the Department of Preventive & Social Medicine at Charles R Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles and an adjunct professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. She is the course director of the “Medicine and Society” Longitudinal PreClerkship Course in the CDU College of Medicine. She is the Program Director of the CDU Community Health Worker Academy.

Jocelyn Sandoval serves as Program Manager for CDU’s Health Careers Opportunity Program. Jocelyn is a first-generation UCLA graduate with a background in Physiological Sciences and Latin American Studies. Some of her interests include access to quality education and resources, preventative medical education in communities of color, and access to healthcare. Her volunteer clinical work in non-profits across the border has allowed her to take on leadership roles where she has a greater understanding of the impact limited resources and access to medical care have on migrant communities. She aspires to be an advocate for communities of color in healthcare.

Sheri Momoh serves as Program Coordinator for CDU’s Health Career’s Opportunity Program. Sheri is a UCLA graduate who studied Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology as well as African American Studies with a background in genetic and medical anthropology research. Sheri’s previous work in student affairs, health and wellness clinics, and community outreach has led her to CDU’s HCOP, where she feels fortunate to support students in their goals to serve diverse communities through a healthcare career.

Noé Rubén Chávez, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Urban Public Health and Psychology Program at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles. He is currently collaborating with the Community Healing and Trauma Prevention Center at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, to develop, implement and evaluate an adolescent mental health curriculum grounded in youth participatory action research. He serves on the editorial boards for – Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, American Journal of Community Psychology, and the Journal of Latinx Psychology. He supports the evaluation of the CDU AltaMed Health Careers Opportunity (HCOP) Pipeline Program and leads the development and implementation of wellness sessions for students.

Schetema Nealy, PhD, is a chemist, educator, and researcher. At CDU, she is the HCOP Mentoring Program Manager. In addition, she currently holds the tenure-track position of Chemistry Instructor at Compton College. In both positions, she feels privileged to be able to work with and assist students who are pursuing healthcare careers.
