Mighty Lion Class of 2020 & 2021 Update

Dear Mighty Lions,

The 2021 graduates of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science will have the opportunity to participate in a unique digital media commencement ceremony on Monday, June 7 at 1p.m. (PST). In person graduation exercises were postponed due to public health directives related to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are exceptionally proud of our 2021 graduates and we want to do our best to provide a special graduation ceremony. You all have persevered through an unprecedented time and still accomplished your academic goal. You deserve the best commencement ceremony we can provide.

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science’s virtual experience will create a memorable celebration for the graduating class while also providing an opportunity for family, friends, fellow students and the college to offer their congratulations. The virtual commencement exercises will include individual recognition for each student, celebratory content, a keynote speaker, and social media filters that will allow graduates to virtually wear a graduation cap. The ceremony is designed to deliver unique moments of celebration and mobile engagement using interactive content.

With CDU’s virtual ceremony, graduates will receive emails and text messages inviting them to participate in the online/digital graduation celebration. Elements of the virtual experience include graduates’ names being announced during the ceremony, accompanied by images/photos you submit in advance of the ceremony. National higher education communications firm Full Measure is providing support for this event.

Please note, per the Office of Registration and Records: The Summer 2021 Graduation applications are due Monday, February 22, 2021 at 5:00 pm. The form can be found online at www.cdrewu.edu/registrar.

Starting February 22 to February 26, 2021, students will have an opportunity to review the Candidates for Graduation list online to ensure their name is listed and spelled correctly.  Any name change request or corrections, should be emailed to the Office of Registration and Records at registrar@cdrewu.edu.
