Medical education requires the accumulation of medical knowledge, and the acquisition of clinical skills, professional attitudes, and behaviors.
Due to the academic rigor and commitment required for successful completion of the program, students are strongly discouraged from working or employment while enrolled in the PA program. Students intending to undertake employment while enrolled are required to meet with and receive prior written documentation from the Program Director.
The Charles R. Drew University Physician Assistant Program has several health requirements that students must comply with prior to starting class each year. All required health and immunization documents must be completed by the designated deadline. Students failing to provide required health & immunization information or failing to meet designated deadlines will not be allowed to start the program.
At Charles R. Drew University, a check of a student’s criminal background is intended to serve as
an important part of the selection process. A background check is conducted with the goal of
assessing risks and promoting a safe environment for students, faculty, employees, and guests to
protect key organizational assets such as people, property and information.
