Drew Residents work closely with underserved communities. During their rotations they visit skidrow and provide health screenings. They tour the community of Watts and learn about the history of the University. They are presented multiple lectures some of which include systematic oppressions, community health, racism in medicine, and social justice. Drew was conceived in response to the Watts revolts, and it is essential for the residents to be part of the community, and understand the impact they have.
