Leadership Development Opportunities

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science is committed to cultivating diverse health professional leaders who are dedicated to social justice and health equity for underserved populations.  Health care developments such as quality, safety, and pay-for-performance initiatives are fueling the demand for physicians in leadership roles.   All educational activities rest on five research pillars focused on issues related to health disparities, social determinants, and health equity. Two of these pillars are Mental Health and Health Policy which will provide multiple opportunities for residents' participation. CDU has designed a leadership development curriculum in which all residents will participate. Residents will receive education and training is several areas to include: evidence-based medicine, systems of quality improvement, healthcare business and finance; and effective public speaking.  Residents will be paired with a physician leader or executive.  Residents will be expected to participate in a minimum of one leadership role during residency. The leadership role will lead to a CDU approved media piece on a CDU approved media platform.
