CDU Alumni Spotlight: Vanessa Calderon, MD Class of 2002

Coming in January: The Alumni Newsletter which will feature a profile on our esteemed Alum, Vanessa Calderon.

In our nation's capital, she worked on policy regarding healthcare access and coverage. She helped write legislation with the offices of then Congresswoman Hilda Solis and Senators Ted Kennedy and Barack Obama. She also brought over 200 medical students to DC to lobby on legislation that would increase healthcare access.

Said Dr. Calderon, “CEP America was once known as California Emergency Physicians, however, our partnership now includes 9 states, hospitalists, PA's and NP's. So, we no longer refer to ourselves as California Emergency Physicians.”

Dr. Calderon is a Fellow with CEP America, but she is also the Assistant Medical Director at San Leandro Hospital.
