Memorial Service April 17 to Honor CDU Student Mattison Haywood-- One Among the Victims of the Orland Bus Crash

WHAT:            Friends, family, students, faculty and staff will gather tonight (Thursday 4-17-2014) at Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) to honor the life of CDU student Mattison Haywood, one of the ten victims on a bus that crashed in the small city of Orland on Thursday, April 10, 2014. She was serving as a chaperone, along with her fiancé, Michael Myvett, accompanying students from Los Angeles area high schools travelling to Humboldt State University for a college recruiting visit. Haywood was a student in the CDU post-baccalaureate program preparing to apply to medical school. In a statement released last week, President of CDU, Dr. David Carlisle, stated “The University’s thoughts and deepest sympathy are with Mattison’s family, classmates, faculty and friends during this difficult time. The CDU family grieves with them.”
