Dear Colleagues,

Officials at the United Nations now estimate that Typhoon Haiyan left more than 10,000 people dead and nearly 2 million others displaced after it swept through the Philippines earlier this month. Haiyan is considered to be one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded.  Thousands of survivors are now residing at evacuation centers and are in need of immediate assistance.

Relief organizations are working quickly to send aid and they need our help! Currently,  the most urgent needs include: canned foods, blankets,  and blankets. Charles R. Drew is teaming up with various organizations to meet these immediate needs of the survivors.

We will be placing three marked boxes in the Mervyn M Dymally, Keck and Cobb building for donations.

We are kindly asking you to please bring easy opened canned goods (ie.  sardines, corned beef, vienna sausage, fruits and vegetables), can openers,  blankets and shoes (ie. sandals, flats and tennis shoes) and drop them off in the boxes provided.

Any amount of help can definitely go a long way! Let us show our support and generosity by extending a helping hand to those who need it most during the season of giving.
