CHARLES R. DREW UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND SCIENCE LAUNCHES OPERATION :GIVING FOR OKLAHOMA TORNADO VICTIMS

Operation :Giving begins at CDU and invites other academic institutions to match efforts

Los Angeles, CA- In the wake of the tragedies in Oklahoma, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) is galvanizing to assist in relief efforts for individuals and families that have lost their homes and are in immediate need of food, clothing, and most importantly, the human assurance that they are not alone. To address those needs, CDU is taking the lead in a newly created project called, “Operation Giving”. The goal of this Operation is that all collected funds would be placed in an account and then dispersed to the American Red Cross and Feed The Children organizations by July 9, 2013.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those impacted by the Oklahoma tornado” said Dr. Carlisle, President and CEO of CDU. ”In the spirit of compassion, and community engagement one of our staff members. Mr. Laurell Black suggested we initiate Operation Giving, to do what we can in the relief efforts”

We will also take this project and expand it by asking our fellow academic institutions to ‘match’ our efforts by utilizing a similar donation structure.

All donations can be made at:  http://www.cdrewu.edu/OperationGiving/. Follow #CDUGive for more information.
