She has also served as the delegate and alternate delegate representing CDU in the AMA medical student section.

Before coming to CDU, Ms. Richards worked in Washington, DC conducting public policy analyses for the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and for other federal agencies. Her specific projects included assessing the efficacy of NIH grants for translational research, and supporting the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology by investigating the limitations to nationwide implementation of electronic health records, exploring “flipped classroom models,” and utilizing technology to improve literacy in pre-K children in low-income households.

Ms. Richards graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2009, where her coursework also included classes in anthropology, policy, and a humanities concentration in Women’s and Gender Studies. While at MIT, Ms. Richards served two terms as the president of the MIT Black Women’s Alliance, conducted breast cancer research, and played varsity basketball.

She will pursue a career as a Family Medicine physician, and strives to be a physician advocate for underserved patient populations in Los Angeles.
