Quick Guide
Your CDU Username and Password:
Claiming your CDU username and password provides you with access to online library resources, e-mail, and access to PowerCampus Self-service.

Password Recovery System (requires setup online): https://psswrd.cdrewu.edu/
PowerCampus Self-service:
You can access your academic records (transcripts), financial aid, class schedules and grades and other important information through the PowerCampus Self-service system. You will need to register the first time you connect. http://studentportal.cdrewu.edu/selfservice/
Wireless Internet Access:
The first floors of the Cobb and Keck buildings (including the Keck Auditorium, SESC, LRC, Library, and Student Lounges) are all covered by wireless internet. To connect to the network, choose the cdu-student network, input the WEP password of student.cdrewu.edu, then open your web browser and log in with your CDU username and password. The wireless network will be expanded to more locations on campus over the course of the year.

Helpdesk:
Students can receive assistance with accessing CDU online resources by contacting the Helpdesk (helpdesk@cdrewu.edu; 323-563-4990). Basic computer support is also available.

Videoconferencing:
The University provides free videoconferencing resources to support collaboration in education and research. For assistance in scheduling and setting up a videoconference, please contact Janet Palacio (323-563-4886) or Sylvia Merino (323-563-5894).
SharePoint online collaboration tool:
The University maintains a SharePoint server which can be used to establish online collaborative spaces, enhance group communication, and manage group work. For information about creating a SharePoint site for your group, contact Sylvia Merino (sylviamerino@cdrewu.edu; 323-563-5894).
Computer Hardware and Software Discounts:
The University negotiates some discounts on computer hardware and software for our students. Information on available discounts is on the web at http://www.cdrewu.edu/library-information-services/info-systems/purchasing
EndNote Bibliographic Software:
The University provides all students with EndNote bibliographic software. This software makes it easy to build bibliographies for research papers, and manage your online searches. The software can be downloaded from http://kdhsl.cdrewu.edu/endnote.asp (CDU username/password required if connecting from off campus).
ExamMaster online test preparation:
ExamMaster is an online test bank that is designed to help students prepare of a variety of licensing examinations (USMLE Step 1-3, PANCE and others). The University provides free access to this resource for students. Register at http://www.exammaster2.com/wdsentry/drew-1.htm

Clinical Examination rooms: 3 rooms in Cobb Clinical Simulation Center. Available whenever staff are present (usually M-F 7:30am-7:00pm) and events are not scheduled. To schedule in advance, contact Sylvia Merino (323-563-5894).
Computer access: Learning Resource Center (Cobb 185); SESC (Keck 1st floor)

Study spaces: The library has quiet spaces for individual study and group study areas. The group study areas are food-friendly.
Public access computers: Access the internet or the full suite of Microsoft Office on our public access computers. Wireless internet is also available if you bring your own laptop.
Printing/copying: Photocopying and printing is available using a debit card purchased from the vending machine in the photocopy area.
Textbooks: The library purchases at least one copy of every required textbook. This copy is kept in the Reserve collection at the Circulation desk for in-the-library use only.
A-V equipment and laptops: The library has several laptops, digital projectors, and digital still and video cameras which are available to borrow. The borrowing period for these items is one day, unless special permission is granted for a longer period. This equipment should be reserved in advance at the Circulation desk.

Off-campus access to the electronic books, journals, and databases: From outside the CDU network, a yellow box will appear in the upper left-hand corner of the library web page. You must then enter your CDU network (e-mail) username and password. Then follow the links throughout the library’s website to access the items you need.
Online library catalog: Search the print book and journal collection to find the title you need. Click the “Catalog” tab on the home page.
E-books: The library has about 200 core textbooks in all health sciences areas, including many required texts. These can be found by clicking on the “Ebooks” link on the library’s home page. Ebrary: This is a large (38,000 titles) collection of scholarly ebooks in all subject areas. Ebrary can be accessed using the icon in the left margin of the home page. The first time you use Ebrary, you will have to install the reader software, following a link on the Ebrary site.
E-journals: All of the journals (Thousands, both print and online) to which CDU has access are listed in the “Journal Master List,” following the link on the library’s home page. For each online title, follow the link that has the publication date you are looking for.
Article databases: We have article databases in a variety of subject areas. If you follow the links from the library’s web site, you will find direct links to the full text of articles to which the CDU Health Sciences Library has access.
PubMed: Health Sciences Subjects. Use the link in the left margin of the home page. Click on the “Library Journal Link Service” icon in the abstract view to see the availability of full text.
Google Scholar: A Google search of scholarly journals in all academic fields. Use the link in the left margin of the library’s home page to include links to the library’s full text journals (Full text@KDHSL).
Academic Search Elite: Search for articles in the full range of academic subject areas. Find the link to this database by following the “Library databases” link on the library’s web site. Links to full text if available.
CINAHL, Proquest Nursing and Allied Health Collection, Health Source: Nursing/Academic edition: These databases all search the nursing and allied health literature, and all contain links to available full text. Find them by following the “Library databases” link on the library’s web site
Proquest Newspapers: This includes the full text of the Los Angeles Times and other national newspapers. Find it under the “Library databases” link on the library’s web site.
Bates Visual Guide To Physical Examination: Streaming video of the techniques used to conduct a physical examination of a patient. Follow the link under “Clinician’s toolkit.”

Computer classroom with 15 student seats and teacher computer. Equipped with Smart Board.
Computer lab with 18 computers. Each has Internet access and Microsoft Office Suite. Some have one or more of the following:

Correc-tec software for Radiography
Heart Sounds and Murmurs. Ask staff for sonitors to listen with your stethoscope.
Bruin Online access for medical students.
Laptop classroom and/or group study space.
Large format poster printer: Ask staff how to format your file to create a poster.
Scanner
Video conferencing system. May be used in LRC or a remote location with appropriate connections.
Help with Blackboard or Angel course management systems
Training: Courses are offered during the year, or staff may be contacted for individual help
