Client Services

OVERVIEW

A broad range of clinical services are offered by Drew CARES to people living with HIV/AIDS. These services are primarily delivered at SPECTRUM, the OASIS Clinic and the Early Intervention Program (EIP) in South Los Angeles.

In addition to state-of-the-art HIV medical care, clients living with HIV/AIDS receive comprehensive psychosocial services including mental health treatment (including individual, couple and family counseling), case management, HIV peer support, susbstance abuse counseling services, treatment education and advocacy, as well as both provider and peer support groups.  Along with this wide array of services, Drew CARES collaborates closely with other local organizations to provide benefits counseling, housing services, dental treatment, legal services and a food bank on site for its clients.  Specialized services target the needs of immigrants, transgendered individuals, women, the recently incarcerated, youth and families. All services are provided in both English and Spanish.

The clinical staff of Drew CARES understands on an intimate and personal level the many issues that their clients face.  Like these clients, the staff is almost exclusively African American or Latino, with half of them also bilingual (and bicultural) in English and Spanish.  Over half of the Drew CARES staff live in the neighborhoods that are served by the program and nearly a third are living with HIV/AIDS themselves.
