The RCMI Internal Advisory Board

The RCMI Internal Advisory Board is comprised of CDU and non-CDU faculty who have a unique understanding of the institutional history and the challenges of a medical center with both county and private affiliations, and a faculty with both county and private support. The internal advisory board members are senior academicians and key institutional leaders with experience in both program grants and individual investigator research grants and/or the authority to initiate key changes that impact programs.

The committee provides broad program guidance, assists with the monitoring project objectives to ensure they are in accordance with proposed scope of work, and monitors overall grant performance criteria. In addition to regularly scheduled quarterly advisory committee meetings, ad hoc subcommittee advisory meetings are convened when necessary. Each meeting has one to two brief presentations by investigator/core area leaders to provide an opportunity for the committee members to interact directly with BRC supported faculty.

Biomedical Research Center External Advisory Committee

The External Advisory Board is newly comprised of members with specific expertise relevant to the research cores. The external advisory board members will be available for consultation on an ongoing basis and visit CDU once yearly to meet with the Internal Advisory Board members and the relevant core members on a rotating basis. When feasible these visits will coincide with the quarterly advisory committee meetings. If needed, additional consultants are utilized to assist with the technical evaluation of specific projects.

The RCMI Program Director provides a quarterly executive progress summary to the advisory committee that includes: 1) a progress report for each investigator (update on grant activity; publications in preparation, submitted, in press, accepted; new grants applied for, awarded; modifications in methods or protocols; staffing changes; any recommendations); and 2) equipment listing; budget report; research funding opportunities; census/recruitment; and update on projects.
