5th Annual Drug Abuse Research Symposium

“Drug addiction is a complex disease,” said Dr. Theodore Friedman, the director of the Minority Institutions Drug Abuse Research Programs (MDARP) at CDU. “We want to make progress in drug abuse research, but it’s not going to be done by basic science alone. We need a multiple level approach.”

The purpose of the annual symposium, Friedman said, is to build a “village approach” to finding cures for drug addiction—involving many disciplines and professions: students, teachers, social workers, counselors, researchers and others.
