This study will examine trends in racial and ethnic-specific rates for 17 health status indicators of Californians for the period of 1990-1998 (corresponding to goals set forth in Healthy People 2000) and will compare the results with a recent analysis of U.S. data. Federal, state, and county data will be used to evaluate California's performance based on 17 indicators of heath status related to mortality, disease incidence, and health risks for Non-Hispanic Black, Non-Hispanic White, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native, and Asian/Pacific Islanders racial/ethnic groups.
