Minority Biomedical Research Support for Continuous Research Excellence (MBRS-SCORE)

Minority Biomedical Research Support for Continuous Research Excellence (MBRS-SCORE)

Under the leadership of Theodore Friedman, M.D., Ph.D., CDU was awarded a Minority Biomedical Research Support for Continuous Research Excellence (MBRS-SCORE). A key objective of the MBRS-SCORE program at CDU is to increase the number of junior investigators with biomedical and/or biobehavioral research skills to address issues related to the areas of disparate adverse health outcomes for disadvantaged populations and to increase the number of underrepresented minorities and women junior faculty by: 1) providing the funds necessary to conduct original research and establish the skills and preliminary data necessary to compete for independent peer-reviewed funding; 2) providing formal research training in biomedical and biobehavioral research techniques, and communication of science; and 3) creating the appropriate environment including high quality instrumentation to support junior faculty and postdoctoral fellows to enter academic careers.
