Archdiocesan Youth Employment Services 18th Annual Alumni Awards Dinner and Silent Auction

Changing Lives for a Lifetime”

Los Angeles, California, September 4, 2012 – Archdiocesan Youth Employment Services (AYE) of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles will host its18th Annual Alumni Awards Dinner at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel on Thursday September 27, 2012.  The event will feature Keynote Speaker Faye Washington and Master of Ceremonies Harold Greene. AYE will honor exemplary alumni, mentors, business and community leaders that support AYE’s mission. 

AYE provides young people with job training, education, and counseling to assist them in becoming self-sufficient and productive. Services are provided through partnerships with employers, community organizations, and local educational agencies.  Services are made possible through private grants and City and County of Los Angeles Workforce Investment Act funds. 

The “Business Leadership Award” will be presented to Jacques G. Rigaud of Raleigh Enterprises.  The “Community Leadership Award” will be presented to Edward Kunkler in recognition of 40 years of service to the community.  “Exemplary Alumni Awards” will be given to Britany Lewis, William Paz-Leiva, Denzell Perry, Vaneshia Reed and Victor Chris Vorgar for overcoming challenges and notable achievements. 

T.H.E. Clinic’s, Minkyong Seok and Roy W. Roberts Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club’s, Andreattee Jones-Gordon, will be presented “Outstanding Mentor” awards for their work with Los Angeles youth.   Special recognition will be given posthumously to Veona Gibson for 45 years of community service and youth mentoring at El Santo Nino with Catholic Charities Los Angeles.
