Our
Services:
Web/Courseware Developer provides support to faculty emphasizing courseware
development, web strategy, and multimedia issues. We provide systems
administration for WebCT and ANGEL and support course developers in training
and testing. We design instructional courseware for faculty and staff.
Turn Around Times:
In keeping with our desire to give each of you
the best service possible, we are asking that everyone plan accordingly
and allow a minimum of 3 days for job delivery. This provides time for
proofing, corrections, unexpected technical problems and any other issues
that may arise that could prevent your project from being completed on
schedule. Your project may be completed sooner than 3 days, but do not
count on less than 3 days to meet any deadlines. Larger or complicated
projects may take longer. Emergency jobs will be dealt with on an individual
basis, determining first if it can be completed within the allotted time.
If we are able to assist you with your emergency job, please be mindful
that doing so will impact other jobs that came before yours. Repeated
emergency jobs from any individual may result in the discontinuance of
service for that individual. Notification will be provided as to when
submissions will NOT be accepted (i.e. personal vacation days, office
closures, holidays).
Other Educational Technology projects: Complex
projects involving multimedia development will
require that a timetable be planned in conjunction
with the faculty member and project team.
Submitting Your Jobs:
Very simple WebCT or ANGEL projects (posting lectures,
editing online information) may be submitted
by email with complete instructions including “Requested
Posting Date” and how to reach you. All files should be attached to your
email. You will receive an email reply or phone call to confirm your
project. For new courses, major revisions or more complex projects, we
request that your project be discussed in person.
Acceptable Formats:
Text: All WebCT or ANGEL text
materials, including lectures, course information,
schedules,
etc., MUST be submitted in Word or WordPerfect
format, PowerPoint, or PDF.
Scanning and Images: Scanned images must be done in an appropriate
manner for online posting. Web posting requires that images be optimized
for online viewing. Files must be less than 5 MB. We encourage you to
not post files that are overly large for download by users.
Proofing:
When your work is posted on WebCT or ANGEL, you will be notified. Please
review and proof it thoroughly. Let us know if any changes need to be
made.
You are responsible for proofing your course content.
Appointment Requirement:
Please call ahead or email to schedule an appointment. This will allow
us to manage time accordingly, and give you quality consultation without
interruption. At that time, we can discuss feasibility and turnaround
times. If you have changes or additions to an on-going project, or just
need to discuss your project, please call first in order to avoid a conflict
with other appointments or scheduled work.
Work You Will NOT Be Assisted With
Image Scanning and OCR scanning: We will not
scan pictures or text documents for digital formatting
("OCR" - optical character recognition).
If "old" lectures need this type of processing, you are responsible
for scanning and reformatting.
