Senior Research Associate (AXIS)

Under direct supervision of the Executive Program Director of AXIS and the AXIS Bioinformatics Function Director, works directly with the Science Navigator and serves as the Associate Science Navigator, respond to wide-ranging requests for scientific research services from CDU faculty including edit, review scientific manuscripts; edit, review and revise scientific papers and grants; assist with figures and graphics; administer web-based videoconferencing software for meetings and conferences; assist with management/organization of research/scientific conferences and events; guide researchers through the research process and university resources; manage and maintain an up-to-date research calendar; assist users in adding and promoting their events; write and maintain the contents of a translational research web portal; write articles for newsletters, produce newsletters, create brochures; assist in promoting the use of biomedical informatics tools such as REDCap and PROFILES; develop and administer surveys for various research purposes. Provide training on the use of survey software and biomedical data collection tools; administer audio-visual (AV) equipment and provide AV services for conferences and events; collect data on CDU publications; maintain a close relationship with Office of Strategic Advancement and publicists by updating them about AXIS and CDU news and events; assist with administrative tasks such as surveys of faculty and staff; work with Evaluation team, request and collect data from AXIS functions to assess productivity; analyze collected data for required metrics, short and long-term outcomes and process measures; jointly develop recommendations for better data collection methods and tools; and perform literature searches and write literature reviews, summaries as necessary for papers and grants.
Regionally accredited Master’s degree in biological sciences required. Doctoral degree preferred. 3–5 years of research/research administration experience in physical, social, life sciences or engineering. Experience with databases, computer programming, and website graphics design; experience with curation of grant and scientific information; experience and skills in academic/scientific/biomedical research and writing, word processing, editing and preparing manuscripts are required. Must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and have strong time management skills; computer proficiency with data management and analysis, word processing, internet/web navigation, website development (HTM (e.g., Excel) is required; excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work collaboratively on a research team are all required; strong organizational skills and detail oriented; and ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
