Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Information Systems, the Senior Systems Programmer will perform programming and systems analysis tasks in support of University SharePoint applications and web applications. Create/update the university’s SharePoint Server; ensure the design and layout meet the objective of the university to provide web based services, workflows and effective communications to both internal and external users. Responsibilities include but not limited to: IIS and SharePoint installations and configuration and maintenance; application development on ASP, ASP.NET including Web Parts; interact with business process development teams and with engineering; assist in the design, testing and development of the custom code while preserving the stability of the shared platform; act as a subject matter expert, training the rest of the university staff and faculty on how to use the services offered through SharePoint; guide outside web developers on develop and customize SharePoint Web Parts based on specifications from the business lines when needed; design web-based application infrastructure as a highly available shared service; and analyze business processes and develop applications for workflow, reporting and other functions.
Requirements:
Regionally accredited Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required; and/or equivalent of combined education and experience. 3-5 years of direct experience and expertise in programming language or operating system concepts. Extensive skills in the design, packaging, delivery and support of web infrastructure technologies. Experience with SharePoint 2007/2010/2012, IIS, Windows O/S, ASP and ASP. NET, Java and supporting infrastructure components. Demonstrated ability to administer SharePoint connectivity issues between web developers and the Windows O/S support teams; in-depth understanding of Web based technologies and Web Services; and ability to install and setup Business Portal for all employee access; knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio/SQL server 2005 forward, Visual Studio IDE 2005 forward; SQL Server Reporting Services (2005, 2008 R2), SQL Server Integrations Services and Transact-SQL; Microsoft Office Suite, VBA; excellent analytical, technical and planning skills; and ability to communicate to users with all levels of experience. Desirable experience and skills are: Web part of development SharePoint branding and customization; Web infrastructure or engineering background with higher education experience. SQL database interfaces and management. Experience with Sungard/Ellucian PowerCampus, PowerFAIDS, and/or Microsoft Dynamics GP a strong preference.
