Objectives of Drew’s Pharmacy Technology Program
Pharmacy Technology
- Prepare students to become excellent and compassionate pharmacy technicians
- Educate and train students to acquire technical skills and become proficient in tasks necessary to succeed in the profession
Outcomes for Students who Successfully Complete the program
- Assist the pharmacist in collecting, organizing, and evaluating information for direct client care
- Receive and screen prescription/medication orders for completeness and authenticity
- Prepare medications for distribution
- Help the pharmacist administer immunizations
- Help the pharmacist identify clients who need counseling to optimize the use of medications and/or equipment
- Initiate, verify, bill, and collect payment
- Manage inventory of medications, equipment, and devices
- Assist the pharmacist in monitoring the facility for legal compliance and professional standards
- Graduates of the program are eligible for stare registration through the California Board of Pharmacy and to sit for the comprehensive national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination.
