Program-Specific Requirements
Minimum of 63 semester hours or 95 quarter hours of prerequisite courses from a regionally accredited college. All courses must be completed with transcripts submitted
by the application deadline.
The following courses are required and can be taken at any regionally accredited university of community college. Please note that these courses should be completed no more than 10 years before submitting your application.
English Composition (3 units)
Speech or Public Speaking (3 units)
Critical Thinking or Logic (3 units) *
* Offered by the Philosophy Department
Human or Animal Anatomy w/ lab (4 or 5 units)**
Human of Animal Physiology w/ lab (4 or 5 units)**
** Or, 8 or 10 units required if the anatomy and physiology courses are combined
General Biology w/ lab (4 units)
Microbiology w/ lab (4 units)
General or Organic Chemistry w/ lab (8 or 10 units)
College Algebra or Trigonometry or Calculus (3 units)
9 units combined of any of the following: Art, History of the Arts, Language, Music, Drama, Journalism, Philosophy, Religion, Ethics, Photography
Spanish—Basic Fundamental or Conversational (3 units)
Typed one-page essay stating reasons for wanting to become a PA and for applying to the Drew PA program
Three references including one from a health care facility or professional
Personal interview with program faculty and/or selection committee***
Personal interviews will be conducted by invitation only.(Selection factors include: completed application, past academic performance, prior health care experience, understanding of the role of the Physician Assistant, maturity, communication skills, demonstrated commitment to work in underserved communities.)
Passing scores on the preadmissions assessment exams
Meeting technical performance standards of the PA program
