Objectives of Drew’s Pharmacy Technology program

 
  • Prepare students to become competent and compassionate health care professionals
  • Educate and train students to acquire technical skills and become proficient in tasks to succeed in the profession
 

Outcomes for Students who Successfully Complete the program

 
  • Assist the pharmacist in collecting, organizing, and evaluating information for direct
    client care
  • Receive and screen prescription/medication orders for completeness and authenticity
  • Prepare medications for distribution
  • Help the pharmacist administer immunizations
  • Help the pharmacist identify clients who need counseling to optimize the use of medications and/or equipment
  • Initiate, verify, bill, and collect payment
  • Manage inventory of medications, equipment, and devices
  • Assist the pharmacist in monitoring the facility for legal compliance and professional standards
  • Graduates will be eligible for registration and licensing by the Board of Pharmacy and to sit for the comprehensive National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination.
