- Diagnostic Medical Sonography is the application of high frequency sound waves to
create images of internal structures.
- Echoes created by sound waves as they bounce off body tissues are displayed as
two-dimensional grayscale images on a video monitor, film or videotape for
interpretation and diagnosis by a physician.
